The association

Following the visions of the pediatrician Dr. Irene Heinrichs, nurses from the oncology ward of the university hospital and affected parents founded a self-help group in 1989 to share their experiences and offer support to families with children who also had the disease.

A short time later, the Association for the Promotion of Children with Cancer Halle (Saale) e.V. was founded in 1991 to provide psychosocial counseling and support for children and adolescents with cancer and their families.

Since 1999, the association has been the proud owner of the "Kinderplanet" villa, which includes a secluded garden. Here, a multi-professional team consisting of a psychologist, social pedagogue, occupational therapist, social worker and grief counselor is available to assist the families. Children will find plenty to do in the various rooms, such as the playroom, craft room, music room, billiard room, pottery workshop or even the garden. The villa is set up in such a way that families can also stay here for longer periods of time.
